You should complete and file ATF Form 1, Application to Make and Register a Firearm, in case you are making (means manufacturing, putting together, altering etc.) an item under the National Firearms Act. As required, this application should be submitted by an individual, corporation or government entity in order to make and register the firearm described in this form.
What is ATF Form 1 for?
Information the form provides is used by the U.S. Department of Justice to determine that a possessor’s receipt and ownership of the firearm would meet the Federal, State, and local law. Information provided on this form is used as proof of lawful registration of a firearm to the manufacturer.
Information as to the identification of the firearm and all registration data on this form will be entered into the National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record.
Is ATF Form 1 accompanied by other forms?
Completed form requires a $200 tax to be paid, so the paid fee is to be attached.
When is ATF Form 1 due?
This form should be submitted every time a firearm is made, except when an NFL firearm is made by the United States or any State or political subdivision thereof.
